As we age the skull rotates and the chin moves backwards. This skull movement leads to bone and soft tissue in the chin area looking retracted, resulting in reduced structural support in the lower face.

How can you tell if your chin filler will improve face appearance? The forward-most point of the chin should be on the same vertical plane as the forward-most point of the lower lip. Filler should be added anteriorly to the chin in such case.

Another way to test if chin filler will enhance your facial beauty is to measure the distance between the eyebrow and the base of the nose and compare that with the distance between the base of the nose to the base of the chin. If the latter is shorter chin filler may compensate the deficit.

What is the dermal filler made of?

Hyaluronic acid diminishes as we age, causing skin to lose volume while increasing wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Hyaluronic acid is also used medically for degenerative (worn out) joints to provide cushion in place of cartilage.
